Paedophile Locked Up for 15 Years After Grooming Six Girls
Syed Shahreear Ahmed, 37, has been jailed for 15 years for grooming and sexually assaulting six girls aged 13 to 15. The sickening crimes, uncovered at Southwark Crown Court, spanned four years and shocked authorities.
Fake Profiles, Social Media Traps, and Horror
Ahmed used fake online personas to befriend young girls on social media. He then sent indecent images and pushed for face-to-face meetings. Once alone with his victims, Ahmed launched his vile attacks.
- The first police alert came in May 2023 when a 15-year-old reported being approached on the app Wizz.
- A 14-year-old narrowly escaped a sexual assault by jumping from Ahmed’s moving car days later.
- Four more victims surfaced from five counties, including Cambridgeshire, Essex, Kent, and London.
Massive Police Probe Reveals Serial Abuse
Officers seized Ahmed’s phones, digging through 500GB of data that exposed his horrific offences. On June 13, 2024, he was convicted of multiple charges, including three rapes of a child, sexual assaults, grooming, and inciting children to engage in sexual activity. Ahmed had already admitted to taking and sharing indecent images.
Long Jail Term and Lifetime Sex Offender Status
Ahmed was handed 15 years behind bars, followed by five years on licence. He must register as a sex offender for life.
“It is due to the bravery of the girls who came forward that we have been able to achieve this outcome,” said Detective Inspector Peter Harvey from the Metropolitan Police. “Ahmed is a manipulative serial predator, and we remain concerned he may have other victims who have yet to come forward.”
