Murder probe launched after 15-year-old Amen Teklay found dead in Glasgow street
Tragic Night on Clarendon Street
Glasgow shook on Wednesday, 5 March 2025, after 15-year-old Amen Teklay was found seriously injured on Clarendon Street at around 10:30 PM. Paramedics raced to the scene but sadly, Amen was pronounced dead there and then. His next of kin have been informed.
Following a post-mortem, scotland.police.uk" target="_blank" rel="noopener" title="Police Scotland" data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">Police Scotland confirmed Amen’s death is being treated as murder. A major investigation is now underway.
Heartfelt Tributes Pour In
Local youth group Kingsway Community Connections paid touching tributes to Amen. The organisation said he was a “funny, bright” lad who loved football, pizza nights, and summer BBQs.
“We are deeply saddened to learn of the tragic death of Amen Teklay. He was a valued member of our youth and film groups and was still receiving support from our staff until the day of his death.
Amen developed great relationships with our team, and we are devastated by his sudden passing.”
The group confirmed they are providing support to Amen’s family and friends during this tough time.
Police Hunt for Answers
A strong police presence remains on Clarendon Street as forensic teams comb the area for clues. Detective Superintendent Cheryl Kelly called Amen’s death “a tragedy” and promised full support for his loved ones.
“Our thoughts are with Amen’s family and friends at this distressing time. We will continue to provide specialist support as our inquiry progresses.”
She urged anyone with dash-cam, private CCTV, or doorbell footage from around the time to come forward.
Call for Witnesses
Chief Inspector Colin MacLucas reassured the local community that police are working tirelessly to uncover the truth.
“I understand residents will be concerned, but I can reassure them a visible police presence will remain in the area. Anyone with information should approach officers or contact us directly.”
