Coastguards and Firefighters Launch Lifesaving Operation
Not stopping there, the Portsmouth Coastguard Rescue Team and West Sussex Fire & Rescue Service were also put on standby. Two expert Coastguard Mud Rescue Technicians braved the treacherous mudflats to pull the trapped individual out using a stretcher.
Thankfully, the victim was unharmed, wrapped in a warm blanket, and able to head home shortly after.
Local Heroes and Vital Safety Warnings
The rescue teams thanked a local farmer and Hasleys Farm owners for providing crucial access to the difficult rescue site.
“If you get stuck in mud along the coast, dial 999 and ask for the Coastguard,” the team warned. “Don’t try to rescue yourself—it’s dangerous. Stay still, spread your weight, stick to paths, and avoid mudflats.”
Coastguard teams urge the public: always report coastal emergencies immediately by calling 999. Your safety depends on it.
