Drugs, Guns, and Cash Seized in Dawn Raid on Welstead Avenue
Early Morning Police Blitz Nabs Suspect
Police swooped on a two-bedroom house on Welstead Avenue at 7am on Thursday, May 11. Officers forced entry and found a stash linked to drug dealing and weapons possession.
Cocaine, Cannabis, and Firearms Found
The raid uncovered significant amounts of cocaine and cannabis. A black bin bag and two plastic tubs stuffed with cannabis were hidden in the kitchen. Homemade cannabis vape oil and bagged white powder – suspected cocaine – also surfaced.
Hidden cash, including £50 and £20 notes, turned up inside a DVD case. In a bedroom safe, officers found luxury items, including two Rolex watches. Prohibited firearms and two air rifles were also seized.
Man Arrested Amid ‘Operation Reacher’ Crackdown
A 52-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of intent to supply cocaine and cannabis, as well as firearm possession. The raid was part of “Operation Reacher,” with local neighbourhood officers lending support.
Neighborhood Inspector Gordon Fenwick said: “This was a great result and shows our ongoing commitment to arrest those who peddle drugs and take off the proceeds of crime.”
He added, “Beyond removing drugs, cash, and a dangerous firearm, we’ve seized assets we believe were funded through crime.”
Inspector Fenwick warned, “Let this be a strong message: if you think you can profit from crime, think again. It’s only a matter of time before we come knocking.”
