£400 Police Boost for Tonbridge Allotment Project

A Tonbridge community allotment is set to reap the rewards of a £400 donation from Kent Police. The cash will fund the Listening Ear project, a local initiative supporting people’s wellbeing with help from community support officers.

Police Funded by Unclaimed Property Cash

The Kent Police Property Fund, which collects money from unclaimed lost and seized items, supplied the donation. The fund hands out cash to local groups serving Kent communities.

Seeds, Shrubs, and Support for Wellbeing

Located on Waveney Road, the allotment is managed by the Trench Community Partnership, a team including Tonbridge and Malling Borough Council and Kent Police. The money will buy seeds, shrubs, and plants to keep fruit and veg growing all year.

It will also pay for a membrane to prepare the ground for next season.

Helping Isolated Locals through Growing

PCSO Linda Baker said: “The Listening Ear remains an important local resource which aims to help people who may feel isolated or anxious. Visitors to the community allotment are not only learning how to grow their own produce, but more importantly are developing the confidence to come out and meet other people.”
