High-Speed Chase Ends in Drug Bust Near Sutton-in-Ashfield
Police Pursue Vehicle Along the A38
Officers launched a high-speed chase along the A38 from Junction 28 on the M1 towards Sutton-in-Ashfield on Wednesday night (23 November 2022). The drama kicked off around 8:50pm when police were alerted to a suspicious vehicle. Two men inside ditched the car in Huthwaite and tried to make a run for it on foot.
One Suspect Caught, Another Nabbed After House Search
Police quickly caught one suspect nearby and found the abandoned car stuffed with a large haul of suspected drugs in the boot. House-to-house inquiries led officers to a home in Sutton-in-Ashfield, where they arrested a second man.
- A 22-year-old is now in custody, suspected of failing to stop, dangerous driving, and possession with intent to supply Class A drugs.
- The second man, 49, was also arrested for possession with intent to supply Class A drugs.
Police Praise Teamwork in Major Drug Recovery
Detective Sergeant Georgina Gallagher of Nottinghamshire Police said: “This was an excellent piece of police work by the officers on patrol and has allowed us to recover large quantities of suspected drugs.
“I am pleased these two suspects have been arrested and our investigation continues.
“The use of drugs continues to cause huge damage to the lives of vulnerable people in our communities and as a force we continue to work hard every day to catch drug dealers and place them before the courts.”
