Thieves Brave 12,000-Volt Fence to Nab Miniature Horses and Foals in Shocking Theft
Masked crooks cut through a deadly 12,000-volt electric fence to steal eight rare miniature horses and foals from a field in March, Cambridgeshire. The raid happened overnight, with five tiny horses—none taller than 2ft 8in—and three vulnerable foals snatched right under the owners’ noses.
Three-Week-Old Foal Stolen Without Mother
Owner Daniel Everett is distraught as one of the stolen foals is just three weeks old and was taken alone, without its mother. “It’s not weaned and without its mother it will die,” he warned. The youngest foal’s life hangs in the balance without specialist care and its dam.
Thieves Came Prepared for Electric Fence
Daniel and wife Jo breed these 30 miniature horses for showing in their Stonea village home. The thieves had clearly planned the job, parking a lorry nearby before cutting through brambles and slipping down an embankment into the field. “They left rubber gloves and ropes behind, so they came prepared for the electric fence,” Daniel revealed.
Pure Greed Motivates Brazen Heist
The Everetts have painstakingly created their own unique bloodline over years, making this theft a massive blow. “We are gutted. It’s pure greed,” said Daniel. The stolen horses have no value without the rightful paperwork, which the owners still hold.
The family has alerted horse sale companies and blasted the theft across buying and selling sites like Gumtree and Preloved, desperate to track down their stolen stars.
