Sussex Police have launched a major manhunt after a 19-year-old male was brutally raped near Harry Ramsden’s in Old Steine just after 3:30 AM on Saturday, December 21. The victim was reportedly approached by two unknown men who led him to Steine Lane, where the shocking assault took place.
Police Urge Public to Help Identify Suspects
Detective Inspector Sean Booth, spearheading the investigation, said: “This is a deeply concerning incident, and we are supporting the victim as our enquiries continue.” The victim got help from a passing pedestrian who quickly alerted the authorities. Specialist officers are now providing vital support to the young man as police chase all leads.
DI Booth highlighted the area’s heavy foot traffic, noting: “Steine Lane is a popular cut-through linking East Street to Old Steine, busy both day and night. We believe several witnesses were nearby during the attack.”
