Huge Blaze Rips Through Hampshire Industrial Unit
Firefighters are battling a massive fire on Barwell Lane, Gosport tonight. Around 50 firefighters and officers, supported by eight fire engines and an aerial ladder platform, are on the scene fighting to stop the blaze spreading to nearby industrial units.
Thick Toxic Smoke and Exploding Batteries
The fire broke out at about 7.20pm on Saturday and has sent thick, toxic smoke billowing into the sky. The building is believed to house a large number of lithium batteries, raising fears of potential explosions. Flames have been seen shooting high from the site as crews from Fareham, Gosport, Portchester, Cosham, and Southsea tackle the inferno using water and foam.

Incident commanders have urged local residents to keep all windows and doors shut while firefighters work hard to control the fire. The cause of the blaze remains unknown and is currently under investigation.
