Body Found in Thames Is Not Clapham Attack Suspect
Met Police have confirmed the body found in the River Thames near Victoria Parade, Greenwich, is not Abdul Ezedi. The grim discovery came just after 7:20pm on February 8, sparking rumours amid the ongoing hunt for Ezedi, wanted over a shocking chemical attack in Clapham.
Intense Manhunt for Clapham Chemical Attack Suspect
Ezedi has been on the run since January 31, accused of spraying a mother and her two young daughters, aged eight and three, with a corrosive substance on Lessar Avenue, Clapham. Police Commander Jon Savell revealed CCTV footage of Ezedi near the River Thames at Victoria Embankment moments after the attack, raising fears he might have jumped into the river. Yet until now, no body linked to him had been found.
Police Urge Public to Help Catch Ezedi
The Metropolitan Police reiterate that the search for Ezedi remains top priority. A £20,000 reward is on offer for information leading to his arrest. A police spokesperson said, “Officers are working to confirm the identity of the male found and inform next of kin. The death is treated as unexpected pending further enquiries.”
Emergency Response and Ongoing Investigation
London Ambulance Service deployed their hazardous area response team (HART) to the scene. Despite their efforts, the man was pronounced dead. Police continue probing how the body ended up in the Thames, as Londoners anxiously await answers in this tense saga.
