Drug dealing near Bay Academy on the Isle of Wight has exploded into a major crisis. A town councillor blasted police chiefs at a recent meeting, demanding urgent action to tackle the growing menace outside the school gates.
“This problem is out of control and getting worse by the day,” warned the councillor. Local officers admitted the cracks are showing due to severe budget cuts and understaffing on the island.
Police Reveal Struggles Amid Resource Shortages
One officer revealed, “We only have limited resources and much of our time goes into investigating other crimes.” They added that they do respond to reports of dealers, but more community support is crucial.
“When we are made aware of a dealer or an exchange taking place, we attend. We need more ways to engage with the public and their help to tackle the problem.”
