Crossbow Chaos in Salford: Seven Arrested After Youth Brawl
Police swooped on Salford last Tuesday night after a weapon was spotted during a youth disturbance. Seven arrests were made, and shockingly, a crossbow was recovered.
Salford Street Turned Battleground
Officers from Greater Manchester Police rushed to Romney Street around 9.30pm on April 14. Reports claimed a firearm was spotted amid the fracas involving a large group of youths.
- A 54-year-old man was nabbed for possession of an offensive weapon.
- Six teenagers aged 16 to 18 were arrested for affray.
Police Clampdown: Dispersal Order Enforced
To nip further trouble in the bud, GMP slapped a 24-hour dispersal order on key streets including Cheetham Street West, Littleton Road, Poppy Lane, Langley Road South, and Lissadel Street. This lets cops break up groups and keep streets clear of troublemakers.
Crossbow Seized, No One Hurt
The recovery of a crossbow raised alarm, but thankfully, no injuries were reported, and no one needed medical attention at the scene.
Swift Police Action Praised
Detective Superintendent Simon Moyles said: “Our frontline officers’ rapid response prevented what could’ve been a dangerous incident. They broke up fights and helped youths get home safely. Thankfully, no one needed medical help.”
“We’ve arrested seven people and removed a weapon while investigations continue. The police will stay visible around the area to reassure locals and gather evidence.”
