Six-Year-Old Hurt in E-Scooter Smash at Hastings Priory Meadow

Sussex Police have launched a witness appeal after a six-year-old boy was knocked down by an e-scooter outside Priory Meadow shopping centre in Hastings.

The crash happened on Tuesday, October 29, at around 4:19pm. A 40-year-old man was riding his e-scooter eastbound along the pavement when he hit the child.

Boy Treated at Scene as Rider Faces Charges

The young pedestrian suffered minor injuries and was treated on location. The e-scooter rider was reported for driving without insurance and driving without due care and attention. Police have seized the scooter amid their ongoing investigation.

Police Urge Witnesses to Speak Up

Officers are keen to hear from anyone who saw the collision or caught it on camera. Witnesses should report online or call 101, quoting crime number 47240211356.

Sussex Police also warned that riding e-scooters in public spaces is unlawful. Those caught can be slapped with fixed penalty notices and risk points on their driver’s licence.
