Three Arrested in Sussex Fraud Crackdown
Sussex Police have made three arrests as part of Operation Henhouse, a nationwide clampdown on fraud and asset recovery. The suspects were detained during two separate investigations.
90-Year-Old Targeted in Shocking Burgess Hill Theft
The first probe involves the theft of valuables and bank cards from a 90-year-old man’s home. Police say the victim was groomed by someone he met at a Burgess Hill pub before being robbed. Detectives have not ruled out more suspects.
A 48-year-old man was arrested for fraud by false representation, theft, and burglary. He is currently on police bail until May 26.
£14,000 Time Fraud Scam Exposed at Gatwick Airport
The second case centers on ‘time fraud’ at a Gatwick Airport business. Over £14,000 was allegedly stolen after one person claimed a known associate was working when they weren’t. The scam reportedly ran for six months.
Police arrested a 49-year-old man on fraud and theft charges, plus a 55-year-old woman on suspicion of fraud. Both were released on bail until April 27 as inquiries continue.
