Career Shoplifter Locked Up Again After Brazen Spree in Sittingbourne

Laundering Theft Spree Across Multiple Shops

Lisa Willet, a seasoned shoplifter from Swale, has been jailed once more after a series of thefts. Already serving a suspended prison sentence, Willet ignored the warning and continued her pilfering streak in Sittingbourne.

Her crimes kicked off on New Year’s Day at a Gadby Road store where she snagged laundry products. Not satisfied, she struck again two weeks later at the same shop, swiping a drink without paying. Willet then raided Morrisons on Milton High Street on January 7, stealing more laundry essentials. Two days later, she made off with a hefty haul of steaks and meat joints from Aldi on East Street.

Caught Red-Handed at Lidl

Willet’s luck finally ran out on January 17 at Lidl on West Street, where staff caught her trying to make off with several beef joints. Police swooped in and arrested the 44-year-old Sittingbourne resident from Frederick Street.

The Swale Victim-Based Crime Team charged her with five counts of theft, adding them to her original suspended sentence.

Swift Justice at Medway Magistrates’ Court

At Medway Magistrates’ Court on January 19, Willet pleaded guilty to all charges. She was promptly sentenced to 260 days behind bars, which included activating her previous suspended jail time.

Community Safety Unit Vows Tough Action

“Our investigators have ensured another thief who targets our local shops has been charged and sent to prison,” said Inspector Vanessa Foster from the Sittingbourne Community Safety Unit. “We will also apply to the court for a strict criminal behaviour order, banning her from entering several businesses once released.”

The message is clear: Swale authorities are cracking down hard to protect local businesses from theft and keep the community safe.
