Hunt On for Bottle-Wielding Attacker Targeting Stamford Hill Communities

Detectives are in hot pursuit of a man linked to a string of shocking assaults in Stamford Hill on Wednesday, 18 August. The Central East Command Unit has launched a full-scale investigation, working closely with local Jewish and Muslim communities united in outrage.

Police Step Up Search with Leaflets and CCTV

On Friday, 27 August, officers hit the streets, handing out appeal leaflets at synagogues and mosques across Stamford Hill. Forensic teams and CCTV experts are combing through evidence, while police pull resources across the Met to ID the suspect.

Detective Chief Inspector Yasmin Lalani, leading the investigation, said: “The attacks have caused shock and concern in both communities. The man approached victims without warning, assaulted them, then fled without a word. We are treating these as hate crimes but remain open on motive.”

So far, four victims have come forward, with reports of a fifth now out of the country. Police are chasing leads to get statements from all.

Suspect May Be a Visitor with Yorkshire Accent

In a fresh clue, CCTV shows the suspect chatting with shop staff on Seven Sisters Road, apparently with a northern, possibly Yorkshire, accent. DCI Lalani urged: “This might mean he’s not local. Communities in northern England should check the high-quality images released and contact us if they recognise him.”

Community Leaders Unite Against Hate

Rabbi Herschel Gluck OBE, president of Shomrim North and East London, said: “Shomrim is working flat out to catch the attacker while stepping up security with extra patrols. The Muslim community in Hackney stands shoulder to shoulder with the Jewish community. Our friendship and cooperation will never waver, no matter the challenges.”
