Heavy Police Presence to Tackle Potential Violence in London Protests
The Met is gearing up for a day of intense policing as several protest groups plan to hit the capital. Officers will be out in force across London, working closely with organisers to keep demonstrations peaceful and curb any trouble.
Specialist Gear and Barriers Deployed
Intelligence eyes some groups bent on causing disorder and even attacking police. As a result, cops will don specialist public order gear, ready to react hard if needed. Protective barriers have already been installed outside key locations across London to control crowds and protect the public.
All Units on High Alert
Backing the operation are the Met’s public order teams, mounted police, K-9 units, and the National Police Air Service. They’ll be patrolling and monitoring all day, ensuring swift responses to any violence or chaos.
Deputy Assistant Commissioner Issues Stark Warning
“Residents and visitors to central London can expect to see a higher police presence today,” said Deputy Assistant Commissioner Jane Connors.
“While everyone has the right to protest, we are especially concerned that some groups plan to travel into London to deliberately cause disorder and target officers. This won’t be tolerated.
“Our patrols will be highly visible and we are working closely with the City of London Police and British Transport Police to keep the city safe.”
