Three Hurt After Police Car Collides with Uninsured Vehicle in Catford Crash

Emergency services scrambled to Brownhill Road, Catford, after a serious collision between a Metropolitan Police vehicle and another car on Monday evening. The smash left three people injured, two of them police officers.

Police Officers Hospitalised, Uninsured Car Seized

The crash happened just after 5pm on May 12, near the junction with Stainton Road — one of Catford’s busiest spots. Two officers were rushed to hospital with minor injuries, while a third person from the other vehicle was treated at the scene.

A police spokesperson confirmed:

“On Monday, 12 May at 17:03hrs, officers were called to Brownhill Road, Catford following reports of a collision between two vehicles, one of them a police car. Two officers were taken to hospital with minor injuries. A person from the other vehicle was treated at the scene by paramedics for minor injuries. That vehicle was seized at the scene for having no insurance. Enquiries are ongoing.”

Paramedics Treat Three Patients at the Scene

The London Ambulance Service sent two ambulance crews, a fast response paramedic, and an incident officer to the crash site. A spokesperson said:

“We were called at 5.03pm yesterday (12 May) to reports of a road traffic collision in Brownhill Road, Catford. We treated three patients at the scene and took two of them to hospital.”

Ongoing Investigation and Local Fallout

Police continue to investigate the exact cause of the crash. The uninsured vehicle involved has been seized.

Locals reported a heavy emergency services presence and a police cordon near Stainton Road. One witness described hearing “a loud bang followed by flashing lights everywhere.”

Social media users expressed relief that the injuries were minor but slammed the presence of uninsured vehicles on London’s roads.
