Shocking Scene at Sussex Supermarket as Black Teen Detained by Security Guards
Teen Handcuffed on Floor Before Police Arrive
Disturbing footage has emerged from a Sussex supermarket showing a black teenager being forcibly pinned to the ground and handcuffed by private security guards. The incident took place at the Superdrug store in Chichester, where police later arrested two boys aged 15 and 16 on suspicion of assault.
Mum Speaks Out: ‘He Was Slam Dunked to the Floor’
The teenager’s mother, Ms Buchanan, claims the security guards acted aggressively towards her son and his friends. “From what I’ve heard, the ranger pushed him, and my son pushed back,” she said. “He was then slam dunked to the floor and sat on, as you can see in the video, and they put plastic handcuffs on him before the police arrived and arrested my son.”
Ms Buchanan added she had not heard from her son for over an hour and a half while he was being held at Worthing Police Station.
Security Staff Sent Home After Incident
The two security rangers involved have reportedly been sent home pending investigation. Ms Buchanan, who previously worked as a special adviser at 10 Downing Street, is demanding answers.
Superdrug Condemns Violence as Store Remains Closed
A Superdrug spokesperson said: “Our top priority is always to keep our colleagues and customers safe, and we have a zero-tolerance policy for violence and aggression. Because of the damage caused during the incident, the shop is still closed.”
