Two Dead in Horror Plane Crash at Beloved Beauty Spot

Tragedy struck Greater Manchester early today when a small plane plunged from the sky and smashed into farmland near Hollingworth Lake, Rochdale. Two men on board have died, confirmed Greater Manchester Police, who have sealed off the area as emergency crews scramble to piece together what went wrong.

Parachute Drama at Crash Site

Eyewitnesses spotted a large yellow parachute tangled in nearby power lines as the aircraft went down. Stephanie Mills told reporters she heard no bang or explosion, just the eerie sight of the parachute caught on an electricity pylon amid a sea of police and helicopter activity.

“There wasn’t any noise, I didn’t hear anything but there is a huge yellow parachute. There is a lot of police and helicopters here too,” said Mills.

Social media snaps confirm the parachute draped across the pylon base, adding a mysterious twist to the crash scene.

Police and Emergency Teams Launch Full-Scale Probe

Emergency responders including police, paramedics, firefighters, and National Grid workers rushed in to secure the scene and deal with safety risks around live power lines. Helicopters buzzed overhead as investigators combed the crash zone.

Chief Superintendent Danny Inglis said, “We are working closely with emergency service colleagues and partner agencies to establish the full circumstances. There will be an enhanced presence as officers and investigators comprehensively survey the area and ensure all available evidence is recovered.”

Fatal Crash Involves Cirrus SR20 with Emergency Chute

The downed aircraft is reported to be a Cirrus SR20, a popular light plane equipped with its own emergency parachute system. The craft took off from the Midlands before plummeting near Littleborough and crashing close to the picturesque Hollingworth Lake.

The Air Accident Investigations Branch (AAIB) confirmed an inquiry is underway with a specialist team dispatched to the scene:

“An accident involving a light aircraft which occurred today near Rochdale, Greater Manchester, has been notified to the AAIB. An investigation has been launched and a multidisciplinary team of inspectors are on their way to the accident site.”

The probe continues as emergency crews maintain their stronghold of the site and dig deep for answers into this deadly Midlands-to-Manchester flight disaster.
