Murder Horror in Guildford: Woman’s Body Found by A3
A major murder probe is underway after the body of a woman was discovered in Guildford on Monday afternoon (23 August). A passerby found the woman’s body in undergrowth near the A3 junction at around 3pm, sparking a full-scale investigation by Surrey and Sussex’s Major Crime Team.
Body Dumped Hours Earlier, Cops Believe
Detectives think the murder took place elsewhere and the victim’s body was dumped in Guildford between 3am and 4:30am on Monday. The chilling discovery has rocked the local community as police hunt those responsible.
Two Men Arrested in Connection with Murder
- A 52-year-old man connected to Finsbury Park, North London, was arrested on suspicion of murder on Tuesday (24 August).
- A 51-year-old man from Hackney was also held on suspicion of conspiracy to commit murder.
Both men remain in custody as inquiries continue.
Victim Named: ‘Big-Hearted’ Helen Anderson
The victim has been identified as 41-year-old Helen Anderson from Finsbury Park, London. Her family described her as a “dear sister and daughter” with a “big heart.”
“Our dear sister and daughter has gone. We loved you. In this life you faced many challenges and still you had a big heart. Goodbye dear Helen.”
Helen’s four children are being supported by family, while specially trained officers comfort her loved ones during this heartbreaking time.
Police Plea: Witnesses Urged to Come Forward
Detective Chief Inspector Emma Vickers appealed to anyone who was near the A3 junction between 3am and 4:30am on Monday to share dashcam footage or information. She reassured locals the arrested men were known to Helen and that the investigation is making solid progress.
“We are doing everything possible to ensure those responsible for Helen’s death are held to account. We encourage anyone with information to come forward and help us bring justice for Helen.”
