Cop Assaults in Nottinghamshire: Two Men Busted After Shocking Attacks
Police scrambled to Sutton-in-Ashfield at 11 a.m. on Thursday (23 June) following reports of a domestic disturbance. A woman was allegedly assaulted, and shockingly, an officer faced racial abuse while arresting the suspect.
A 31-year-old man was nabbed on suspicion of assault, threatening to kill, racially aggravated public order offences, and criminal damage.
Another Incident Hours Later in St Ann’s
Later that same day, at 11:25 p.m., officers rushed to Booth Close in St Ann’s after reports of a street brawl. While trying to calm the situation, an officer was punched in the face, suffering minor injuries.
Police arrested a 32-year-old man on suspicion of assaulting an emergency worker.
Police Speak Out: Abuse Against Officers ‘Completely Unacceptable’
“It is extremely important that members of the public understand that it is not okay to abuse police officers,” said Sergeant Laura McCullough of Nottinghamshire Police.
“It is completely unacceptable for anyone to physically assault or verbally abuse our officers.”
These cases highlight a worrying rise in violence and abuse towards law enforcement. Nottinghamshire Police insists this will never be tolerated and urges the public to help stop the abuse.
