Massive Fire Rips Through Barking Flats
Eight fire engines and around 60 firefighters rushed to a blaze that tore through a flat on Mizzen Street, Barking. The fire broke out just after midnight in a four-room flat on the sixth floor of a seven-storey building, causing serious damage.
Residents Evacuated, Two Hospitalised
The London Fire Brigade safely evacuated about 50 residents from the block. Two adults—a man and a woman—were taken to hospital by the London Ambulance Service for treatment. Thankfully, no fatalities were reported.
Rapid Response Controls Blaze
The first emergency call came in at 12.46am, triggering a swift response. Crews from Barking, East Ham, Plaistow, and nearby stations were on scene fast. Firefighters managed to bring the fire under control by 1.48am.
Investigation Underway as Firefighters Praise Swift Action
The cause of the fire remains unknown. Authorities are actively investigating what sparked the blaze. A London Fire Brigade spokesperson praised the quick work of control officers and fire crews. “Our teams worked efficiently to ensure the safety of all residents and brought the fire under control swiftly,” they said.
