Two Teens Arrested Over Chingford Stabbing Murder
Two 14-year-old boys have been arrested following the fatal stabbing of 45-year-old James Markham in Chingford.
James Confronted Rowdy Youths Before Fatal Attack
James was stabbed on the evening of Monday, 9 August after confronting a group of youths causing a disturbance on Churchill Terrace. Police were called at 6:20pm and found James seriously injured. Despite desperate efforts from paramedics and bystanders, he died at the scene from a stab wound to the lung.
Police Urge Witnesses & Parents to Come Forward
One 14-year-old boy was arrested on suspicion of murder, while another of the same age was held for conspiracy to murder. Both remain in custody at an East London police station.
“The brutality of this response is beyond shocking and our thoughts are with James’ family who have been left devastated,” said Detective Inspector John Marriott. “We believe James confronted youths causing a disturbance and was stabbed as a result. We urge anyone who witnessed the attack or knows something to come forward.”
He added: “Parents who suspect their children were involved should do the sensible thing and contact us.”
