Police Raid in Birmingham Linked to London Terror Attack

A major police operation is underway on Hagley Road, Birmingham, following a terror attack in London involving a car traced back to the city. Authorities have sealed off Hagley Road between Plough and Harrow Road and Stirling Road near the Ivy Bush pub.

Hagley Road Locked Down, Locals Told to Stay Indoors

West Midlands Police confirmed: “There is an ongoing police operation; no further details are being given at this stage.” The incident was first reported around 11:50pm. A heavy police presence quickly gathered, prompting road closures around Fiveways Island and surrounding streets as specialist officers arrived.

Residents in the area have been instructed to remain inside their homes. One nearby witness, who wished to remain anonymous, claimed there were rumours someone was shot early yesterday morning on the street.

National Arrests Made in Connection to Terror Probe

West Midlands Police revealed that overnight raids led by the Metropolitan Police resulted in multiple arrests nationwide, including in Birmingham. These actions were intelligence-led with no immediate threat to public safety.

The force assured locals extra officers would be patrolling over the coming days to provide reassurance and address concerns. Importantly, this heightened security is NOT due to any new or emerging threats.

Counter-Terror Chief Urges Public to Report Suspicious Activity

Assistant Chief Constable Marcus Beale, counter-terrorism lead, said: “Suspicious activity is anything out of place, unusual, or doesn’t fit with day-to-day life. Let us decide if it’s important.” Police continue to encourage vigilance but stress there is no cause for alarm.
