Dad saves Christmas after stocking filler sparks bedroom blaze
Electrical fault sparks rapid fire
One family’s festive night nearly turned to disaster when an electrical fault in a son’s stocking filler caused a fast-moving fire in a bedroom. Thanks to blaring smoke alarms, Dad Dominic sprang into action and got his one-year-old child to safety just in time.
Smoke alarms hailed as lifesavers
“Luckily we’re all OK. We really have the smoke alarms to thank for alerting us early on, before the flames could spread even further,” said Dominic. “Without working smoke alarms, we might not have realised until it was too late to escape safely.”
Dominic and his family now know all too well how terrifying a house fire can be and how vital working smoke alarms are for that crucial early warning.
Fight Against Fire campaign aims to save lives
To keep other families safe, Dominic’s family is backing the Fight Against Fire mission this Thursday, 7 April. Firefighters will be going door-to-door all over Kent and Medway, fitting FREE smoke alarms to as many homes as possible in just one day.
