Woman Dies in Early Morning Flat Fire in Fulham
A tragic fire tore through a flat in West London, claiming the life of a woman in the early hours of August 1. The blaze broke out just after 4 AM on Ongar Road, Fulham, engulfing the first and second floors of a converted end-of-terrace house.
Firefighters Rescue Victim but Death Confirmed
Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus rushed to the scene and managed to rescue a woman from the second floor. Despite their best efforts, she was sadly pronounced dead at the scene shortly after the rescue.
Massive Fire Response Controls Blaze Quickly
Six fire engines and about 40 firefighters from stations across Fulham, Kensington, Hammersmith, Wandsworth, Tooting, and Chelsea battled the flames. The fire was brought under control by 4:50 AM.
Investigation Underway as Cause Remains Unknown
A London Fire Brigade spokesperson said:
“Sadly, a woman has died following a flat fire on Ongar Road in Fulham. Most of the flat across the first and second floors was damaged by fire. Firefighters rescued a woman from the second floor but she was pronounced dead at the scene. The Brigade responded swiftly with six fire engines and around 40 firefighters from multiple stations. The fire was under control within 40 minutes. The cause is currently under investigation.”
