Wow Air Shuts Down: Thousands Stranded as Flights Cancelled
Icelandic airline Wow Air has abruptly ceased all operations, leaving thousands of passengers stranded. The shock announcement came on Thursday morning when the carrier cancelled all flights for the day while trying to secure new investor funding. Hours later, Wow Air confirmed it has “ceased operation” completely, cancelling all future flights.
Flights Cancelled Across UK Routes
Wow Air was a popular budget airline connecting Europe and North America via Reykjavik. It served major UK airports including London Gatwick, London Stansted, and edinburgh/" title="Edinburgh" data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">Edinburgh. Now, all flights have been scrapped with no clear timeline for resumption.
What To Do If You’re Affected
If you booked directly with Wow Air and paid by credit card, you may be protected under Section 75 of the Consumer Credit Act 1974. Contact your card issuer immediately for advice on making a claim.
Those who paid by debit or charge card could be covered by chargeback rules—check with your bank.
