Cop Punched in the Face Chases Down Armed Suspect in Slough
Dog Handler PC Katie McGloin Faces Violent Attack
PC Katie McGloin was left bruised but unbowed after a motorist punched her in the face and bolted during a patrol in Slough back in April 2019. The dog handler had stopped the man in a quiet cul-de-sac after a vehicle check revealed no insurance. As she approached, he jumped out clutching a can of lager and made a run for it.
Epic Chase Through Gardens and Rivers
The suspect darted through residential gardens and even attempted a daring fence jump. Despite his desperate punches, PC McGloin caught him, clutching his belt to haul him back over the fence. One savage swing landed a solid blow to her face, but she refused to let him get away.
The race continued over fences, through backyards, and across a busy road. When the chase led to a river, PC McGloin didn’t hesitate to wade waist-deep in water to keep up.
Taser Shock and Gritty Arrest
The man fought fiercely, shrugging off not one but two Taser shocks. He even yanked out the probes, forcing the officer to physically wrestle him to the ground. After a struggle tense enough to take down even the toughest, PC McGloin used CAPTA spray to finally bring the suspect under control.
“I just didn’t want to let him get away. When he hit me, I thought, ‘I’m not going to let you win this battle,’” said PC McGloin.
The man later apologised through his probation officer, admitting he underestimated Katie’s determination.
