Dangerous Drifter Busted in Lexus Doughnut Dare

A public video captured Daniel Bassett spinning his wheels and doing doughnuts in his Lexus on May 7th. The Osbourne Street resident pleaded guilty to dangerous driving and faced Swindon magistrates yesterday (22/11).

Harsh Punishment for Reckless Driving

  • Mandatory rehab attendance with up to 15 days of activities set by his officer
  • 200 hours of unpaid work
  • 15-month driving ban plus an extended driving test before he can get back behind the wheel
  • £85 court costs and a £95 surcharge

Police Praise Tough Sentence

Wiltshire Police Assistant Chief Constable Deb Smith said: “We welcome the sentence handed down to Bassett. His actions represented severely reckless behaviour and clear danger to those present and the wider public.

“Operation Staysail remains focussed on relentlessly pursuing those responsible for creating extremely dangerous situations on our roads during disruptive car meets. We will continue to seek the strongest possible sanctions in such cases.”
