Jealous rampage in broad daylight as woman stabs victim four times in taxi!

Attack erupts on quiet Moira street

On Tuesday 3 May, a taxi ride turned violent. The victim was travelling with 27-year-old Filipe Dix and another man to Moira. At around 8:30am, as the taxi passed Sweet Hill, 27-year-old Amy Redfern, waiting on her driveway, launched a savage assault.

Redfern stabbed the victim four times with two knives while she was still trapped inside the taxi.

Swift chaos and desperate getaway

Despite the attack, the taxi driver rushed the bleeding victim away. She managed to stop the car shortly after realising her wounds. Paramedics treated stab injuries to her chest, thighs, and calf before she was discharged from hospital.

Police soon uncovered that Redfern had accused Dix and the victim of an affair, having threatened the victim repeatedly through texts sent via Dix.

Fugitives caught and jailed

Both Dix, once of Stanley Road, Nuneaton, and Redfern, formerly of Sweet Hill, fled immediately after the stabbing. Police launched a full-scale hunt across Moira. The pair returned the next day, where officers swiftly arrested them.

At court, Dix pleaded guilty to assisting an offender, three breaches of a restraining order, and breaching a suspended sentence unrelated to the attack. Redfern admitted to Section 18 grievous bodily harm and two counts of carrying knives in public.

On Friday 16 December, Dix was jailed for 85 weeks. Redfern received a three-year, four-month sentence.

Detective condemns knife crime

“This was a premeditated and brutal attack fuelled by alcohol and jealousy,” said Detective Constable Steve Williams.

“Redfern had no qualms stabbing the victim in broad daylight on a residential street, witnessed by many.”

“Dix helped her evade police despite knowing the attack’s severity.”

“The victim is incredibly lucky to be alive, with no serious internal damage.”

“We’re relieved both have pleaded guilty, sparing the victim courtroom trauma.”
