Speed Demon Runs Riot in 95mph Police Chase Across Nottinghamshire
Ten-Minute High-Speed Terror
Ondrej Kralik, 30, tore through Nottinghamshire at up to 95mph during a frantic ten-minute police chase. The pursuit kicked off when officers spotted him mounting a grass verge to recklessly overtake another vehicle on a roundabout along Old Rufford Road, Calverton.
After accelerating wildly, Kralik ignored blue lights and sirens, pushing his silver Kia Ceed to dangerous speeds in a desperate bid to outrun the cops.
Dangerous Driving on Display
- Hit 86mph in a 50mph zone;
- Flashed headlights to stop him—but Kralik just floored it, maxing 95mph;
- Veered onto wrong side of the road, risking head-on collisions;
- Sped over hill crests still on the wrong side;
- Went the wrong way round a roundabout, reaching 85mph in a 30mph zone;
- Messed up trying to navigate a one-way street in Southwell, wedging his car between a BMW and a signpost – that’s when officers nabbed him.
Offender’s Troubled Backstory and Sentence
The chase happened on 28 September 2022, just six days after Kralik landed a hefty £656 fine and six penalty points for a separate motoring offence. He pleaded guilty to dangerous driving at Nottingham Magistrates’ Court on 14 February 2023.
On 21 March, Nottingham Crown Court sentenced him to ten months in prison – suspended for two years. Judge Nirmal Shant KC said Kralik was “off the rails” due to personal turmoil including a relationship break-up, job loss, and homelessness.
“This was a particularly bad piece of dangerous driving over a sustained period. I have no doubt you only stopped because you crashed trying to go the wrong way down a one-way street. It’s only luck no one was seriously injured,” the judge warned.
In addition, Kralik was ordered to complete 150 hours of unpaid work and banned from driving for 18 months.
Police Praise and Warning
Inspector Graham Clarke of Nottinghamshire Police slammed Kralik’s reckless antics. “This appalling driving could’ve killed or seriously hurt someone. By fleeing, he put the public and himself in grave danger. I’m pleased officers ended the pursuit safely and commend their professionalism.
“I hope Kralik learns from this and never acts like this again.”
