Drug Dealer Nabbed with £650 of Heroin and Crack in Peterborough Sting
Oleksandr Galamon, 27, was busted on the evening of December 19 last year carrying a stash worth £650 in heroin and crack cocaine. The Eastfield Road man was caught red-handed by neighbourhood police patrolling Millfield.
CCTV Tips Off Officers at Known Drug Hotspot
Officers were alerted by CCTV operators to a gathering of around ten people in the Russell Street underpass, a notorious drug user haunt. As police closed in, a woman shouted, “Police, police are here!”
Galamon tried to sneak off but ended up face-to-face with an officer. A search revealed 65 wraps of crack cocaine and heroin, £250 in cash, and a can of pepper spray – banned as a weapon.
Three-and-a-Half Years Behind Bars for Galamon
Yesterday at Cambridge Crown Court, Galamon pleaded guilty to possession with intent to supply heroin and crack, plus carrying an illegal weapon. He was jailed for three-and-a-half years.
Police Urge Public to Keep Reporting Drug Crime
Sergeant Sarah Phillips of the Eastern Peterborough Neighbourhood Policing Team said: “We have been focussing a lot of our time in the Millfield area, including Russell Street, as we have had a lot of feedback from the local community about drug dealing and other issues such as anti-social behaviour here.
“We will continue our work in this area, but I would encourage the public to keep reporting information and concerns to us so we can act on it and hopefully put more drug dealers before the courts.”
