Young drug dealer and gunman sentenced after huge Kingston bust
Billy Sturgeon, 20, from Wandle Road, Merton, has been sentenced at Kingston Crown Court. He pleaded guilty to possession of a firearm with intent to cause fear, three counts of possession with intent to supply class A drugs, possession of criminal property, and possession of a Taser.
Police swoop on Sturgeon’s flat
On 20 June 2022, cops executed a warrant at Sturgeon’s home following intelligence that he was dealing drugs. As officers entered, they caught him tossing items out of a loft window – later found to be class A drugs.
Further searches uncovered big quantities of cocaine, crack cocaine, and heroin wrapped in broken carrier bags, cling film, and snap bags. Police also seized drug paraphernalia, including weighing scales, a burner phone, and almost £3,000 in cash.
Loaded shotgun and Taser found
In a spare bedroom, officers discovered a loaded shotgun with two cartridges inside. Nearby, a Taser was recovered atop a chest of drawers close to the front door.
During questioning, Sturgeon refused to comment. He was promptly charged and remanded in custody.
Detective warns: drugs and guns = prison
“The weight of evidence left Sturgeon no choice but to plead guilty,” said Detective Constable Leah Brough of Specialist Crime (Trident).
“The seized drugs, worth nearly £20,000 on the street, included cocaine, crack cocaine and heroin. Messages on the burner phone confirmed ongoing drug orders.”
“The shotgun and Taser will be destroyed. They show the deadly link between drugs and violence destroying communities. The cash has also been forfeited.”
“We are determined to crack down hard on offenders. Let this be a warning: anyone involved in this activity risks prison.”
