Driver Caught with Massive Cannabis Haul and Axe on Peterborough Road
Kris Lika, 30, was pulled over for a routine stop on the A15 in Peterborough just before 10.30am on 6 November. But officers soon sniffed out trouble – a strong smell of cannabis filled the air.
Huge Stash Found in Car
Police searched Lika’s Volvo V50 and seized two phones, including one from Lika himself, plus £960 in cash. The real shocker? Inside the car, officers uncovered two large boxes and bags packed with 27 vacuum-sealed bundles of cannabis.
Axe Hidden in Spare Wheel Well
The search didn’t stop there. Hidden under the boot in the spare wheel well was a concealed axe, raising police suspicions even further.
Charged and Jailed for Almost Two Years
Lika, from St James Street, Derby, was arrested and largely refused to answer police questions. He was charged with possession of a class B drug with intent to supply, as well as possessing a weapon in a public place.
He pled guilty and was sentenced at Huntingdon Law Courts on 6 December. The judge handed him 1 year and 10 months behind bars.
The drugs and axe were destroyed, and the £960 cash was donated to the Cambridge Community Foundation. Crime doesn’t pay – and neither does hiding an axe in your car.
