Massive Cannabis Farm Raided in Sutton-in-Ashfield
Police uncovered a huge cannabis growing operation at a commercial site on Reform Street, Sutton-in-Ashfield. Over 1,000 cannabis plants were seized and destroyed following the dawn raid.
High-Tech Setup and Dangerous Electrical Work Exposed
Officers found an array of sophisticated electrical equipment powering the illegal farm. Dangerous electrical modifications were also uncovered and promptly fixed by experts on December 8.
No Arrests Yet as Probe Continues
No one has been arrested so far, but Nottinghamshire Police say their investigations into the major drug operation are ongoing.
Police Warn of Ruthless Crime Behind Cannabis Industry
Temporary Detective Inspector Andrew Hall warned: “This was an industrial-sized factory that clearly took a lot of time and money to set up. Drug production on this scale is an extremely serious offence and is often linked to ruthless organised crime groups.”
He added: “These groups will think nothing of using extreme violence to protect their investments and may also be involved in human trafficking and modern slavery offences.
“We sometimes hear complaints that this is ‘only a bit of weed’, but the truth is that is an industry that trades in human misery. That’s why we will continue to target the people responsible with intelligence-led raids and enforcement action.”
