Luton Man Jailed for Brutal Rounders Bat Attack
A 31-year-old Luton man has been locked up for eight years after viciously attacking a victim with a rounders bat. Nick Cannon, from Bowbrookvale, was sentenced at Luton Crown Court on Friday 14 August after being found guilty of grievous bodily harm, aggravated burglary, and weapon possession.
Early Morning Horror
At around 6:30am on 16 January, Cannon and an accomplice showed up at a property on Windmill Road, Luton. They knocked loudly on a communal door. When someone answered, Cannon shoved past them wielding a rounders bat, forcing his way inside.
Terrifying Home Invasion
The pair stormed into the victim’s flat. Cannon smashed through the door and repeatedly struck the victim on the head and body with the bat. The victim suffered multiple injuries, including a broken nose and deep cuts. The attackers then fled the scene, taking their bats with them.
Quick Arrest and Bloody Evidence
Police caught up with Cannon hours later at 10:30am. He was wearing bloodstained clothes matching CCTV footage from after the attack. Officers also found the bloodied rounders bat at a property linked to him.
“Bedfordshire Police does not tolerate this type of behaviour. I am glad Cannon will spend a lengthy time behind bars, where hopefully he can reflect on his actions,” said Detective Constable Kimberley Anderson.
“Carrying a weapon with intent to harm will have consequences. This was a shocking attack that left the victim badly shaken and injured.”
