Couple Jailed Over Horrific Child Abuse Plot
Christopher Binch, 36, was arrested by the National Crime Agency (NCA) on 12 March 2022 after sharing indecent material and discussing his sick sexual interest in children in an online child abuse group.
Binch didn’t just share vile content—he filmed a young child being sexually abused himself. Officers found a video and numerous images he had taken. During his arrest, police seized his mobile phone and a stash of cocaine, which Binch admitted was for personal use.
Partner Caught After Tattoo Exposed Her
Investigators identified a woman with a distinctive tattoo committing the abuse in the footage. The tattoo matched that of Binch’s partner, Lindsay Mobey, 34, who was snared three days later.
Harrowing Evidence Found on Binch’s Phone
- 347 indecent images of children (IIOC), spanning categories A to C
- Extreme and prohibited images
- Three sexual abuse videos filmed by Binch himself
Both were remanded in custody. Last November, Binch admitted to ten charges including sexual assault of a child under 13, making and distributing child abuse images, possession of extreme pornography, and possession of cocaine.
In the same month, Lindsay Mobey pleaded guilty to sexual assault of a child under 13.
Harsh Sentences Delivered at Leicester Crown Court
Today, Binch was locked up for eight years and one month. He will remain on the sex offenders register for life and is slapped with an indefinite sexual harm prevention order.
Mobey got two years and one month, plus five years on the sex offenders register.
The child victim was safeguarded early in the investigation.
Danny Waywell from the National Crime Agency said: “Binch and Mobey worked together to sexually abuse a young child, which he filmed and shared with other paedophiles online. Their actions were calculated and abhorrent; exploiting this child to satisfy their own sexual gratifications and gain some horrific form of kudos among the like-minded online.
“Safeguarding children from sexual abuse is a priority for the NCA. We work tirelessly to identify offenders and ensure they are brought to justice so they no longer pose a threat.”
