Serial Cyberstalker Robert Davies Jailed for Spying on Teens and Stealing Intimate Pics
Cyber Criminal Caught with High-Tech Hacking Tools
Robert Davies, 32, was flagged by National Crime Agency (NCA) investigators back in 2019 after buying an arsenal of cybercrime tools, including crypters and remote administration tools (RATs). He also shopped on weleakinfo, a notorious online marketplace for stolen data that was shut down last year following an NCA crackdown.
Hacking Victims’ Devices to Spy and Steal
Davies disguised malicious software with crypters to dodge antivirus software, infecting victims’ phones and computers. He then used RATs to hijack their devices remotely, hunting down intimate images—mainly of women—and stealing them. In a shocking twist, Davies even spied on a teenage girl through her webcam, filming her without consent to create a series of indecent images.
Police Uncover Horrific Cache of Abusive Material
Officers seized those indecent images, along with 27 more videos and pictures involving minors, all stored on Davies’ computer. Over 30 victims were identified and visited during the investigation, highlighting the disturbing scale of his crimes.
NCA Cracks Down to Stop Cybercrimes
The NCA is committed to raising the bar against cybercrime by cutting off access to ready-made hacking tools. Their efforts at shutting down marketplaces like weleakinfo aim to make it harder for criminals like Davies to strike again.
