Michael Stringer slapped with alcohol ban
Michael Stringer, 41, from Honfleur Road, was hit with a Community Protection Notice (CPN) in July 2023 banning him from drinking alcohol in any public space across Dover. The order came after repeated reports of drunken, anti-social behaviour that was driving locals and businesses mad.
Flouting the law: multiple breaches
Despite the ban, Stringer allegedly broke the rules not once, but five times. On four occasions between December 9, 2023, and April 7, 2024, he was caught with an open can of booze in public. Then, on May 8, officers claim he was caught trying to pee on Sandwich High Street – a public nuisance by any measure.
Now facing the music at Folkestone Magistrates’ Court
Stringer has been charged with five counts of failing to comply with the CPN. He’s set to face the judge at Folkestone Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, May 22.
Police vow to crack down on anti-social behaviour
Police Constable Ben Goff, Dover’s Beat Officer, said: “Breaching a Community Protection Notice is a criminal offence. When we suspect a breach, we will prosecute.”
“We’ll keep enforcing laws that tackle anti-social behaviour so Dover stays safe for residents and visitors alike.”
