Dark Web Paedo Busted with Sick Manuals and Thousands of Abuse Images

Christopher Priestley, 52, was nabbed by the National Crime Agency (NCA) in October 2019 after being caught lurking on child abuse platforms deep in the dark web.

Encrypted Devices Cracked, Horrific Evidence Found

Officers seized his laptop, desktop, and external drives, all locked down with top-tier encryption. But NCA cyber experts broke through the digital fortress and uncovered a cache of depraved images—over 30,000 in total—and two vile manuals.

Disturbing ‘Paedophile Handbook’ and Self-Made Guides Seized

One manual was penned by Priestley himself. The other, chillingly titled The Paedophile Handbook, was downloaded from the web. Both contained detailed advice on selecting victims and dodging detection from family and the police.

Investigators also found a haul of children’s underwear hidden in his bedroom.

Guilty Plea at Sheffield Crown Court – Sentence Due January

At Sheffield Crown Court yesterday, Priestley admitted three counts of making indecent images of children—ranging from Category A (the worst) to C—and two counts of possessing paedophile manuals. He faces sentencing on 11 January 2023.

Laura Scott of the NCA’s National Cyber Crime Unit said: “Priestley sought out and downloaded an astounding haul of child sexual abuse material.

“Every horrific image showed the real-world abuse of children, each subjected to unimaginable suffering and re-victimised every time those images were viewed.

“We know there is a direct link between online offending and contact abuse. In this case, Priestley had handbooks guiding offenders on how to carry out abuse.

“Identifying and disrupting individuals who pose a sexual risk to children remains a priority for the NCA.”
