Southampton Man Gets Two Years for Brutal Attack

Abdi Foinsiyo, 33, from Kent Street, Southampton, was sentenced to two years in prison today at Southampton Crown Court. He had previously pleaded guilty to grievous bodily harm without intent.

Horrific Assault Inside Victim’s Flat

On the afternoon of Sunday, 20 November, the victim, a man in his 60s, called emergency services, reporting that Foinsiyo—someone he knew—was making threats outside his flat.

During the call, Foinsiyo barged into the victim’s home, snatched the phone, and repeatedly shouted, “I’m going to kill this person,” before hanging up on the operator.

Foinsiyo then unleashed a savage assault, punching the victim in the face nonstop for over 30 seconds.

Victim Fights Back but Suffers Grave Injuries

The victim tried twice to escape but was caught and punched repeatedly before finally breaking free and fleeing the flat.

Police arrived minutes later and arrested Foinsiyo at the scene. When questioned, he admitted, “I punched him up properly, I used my fist, I don’t need knives.”

Serious Injuries and Strong Words from Police

“The victim was so badly injured that his right eye came out of its socket and he has since lost vision in that eye,” said Detective Inspector Christian Reid-Milligan, who led the investigation.

“While the damage Foinsiyo caused cannot be undone, I hope this result shows our commitment to tackling serious violence in Southampton. We stand by victims and will ensure offenders face justice.”

A restraining order has been imposed to protect the victim from further harm.
