Man Caught Downloading 200+ Sickening Child Abuse Images

A 47-year-old man has landed in hot water after being caught with over 200 indecent images of children on his devices. Martin Sparks, from Redbridge, admitted downloading and viewing horrific child abuse material.

Repeat Offender Busted Again

Sparks pleaded guilty at Snaresbrook Crown Court on 26 June to multiple charges, including five breaches of a Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO), and possession of category A and B indecent images of children. His sentencing is set for 26 August.

Back in 2018, Sparks was convicted for similar offences and handed a suspended two-year jail term alongside a SHPO. Despite this, he recklessly broke the law again.

Undercover Police Raid Exposes Shocking Evidence

On 18 June, Met Police Specialist Crime Command executed a search warrant at Sparks’ home after receiving intelligence that he was using peer-to-peer software to download child abuse images. He initially denied any wrongdoing but soon admitted to the breaches.

  • Officers seized a computer tower Sparks used to download illegal images.
  • An undeclared electronic tablet was also taken, violating his SHPO terms.
  • The final breach involved connecting to his home internet to access the content.
  • Two USB sticks hidden in his shoes contained 233 category A and 17 category B horror videos.

Police Won’t Let Sick Perverts Off the Hook

Detective Constable James Cavenham said: “Sparks is now facing time behind bars after committing the same hideous offence once again. The evidence we gathered against him meant he had no option but to plead guilty.”

“Although this is not a contact offence, every single image contains a child who is a victim of an appalling crime. When people like Sparks seek these images out, they fuel a vile market supporting abuse.”

“The Met will continue to relentlessly pursue and bring to justice those who download online images of child sexual abuse.”
