Drug Dealer Banned from Holbeck in Crackdown on ‘Cuckooing’
Jordan Bingham, 32, with no fixed address, has been hit with a court injunction banning him from entering Holbeck until July 13, 2023. Breaching the order could land him in jail for contempt of court, Leeds County Court ruled.
Police Target Organised Drug Supply and ‘Trap Houses’
The Leeds South Neighbourhood Policing Team and Leeds Anti-Social Behaviour Team joined forces to tackle the heroin and crack cocaine crisis devastating Holbeck. Their joint efforts focus on stopping criminals exploiting vulnerable people to run drug deals.
Drug dealers have been using a nasty tactic called ‘cuckooing’ — taking over vulnerable victims’ homes to operate from. These properties, often ‘trap houses’, pump out Class A drugs around the clock, terrorising local residents with violence, threats, and intimidation.
Police and Council Unite to Protect Community
“Getting Jordan Bingham banned from Holbeck is a massive step towards cutting the harm caused by organised drug supply,” said Inspector Tom Perry, Leeds South NPT lead.
“The community must help by reporting any sightings of Bingham immediately. This injunction is part of our ongoing fight against drugs, crime, and anti-social behaviour.”
“Our recent raids on trap houses have led to arrests and drug seizures. We continue working with council and other agencies to safeguard exploited victims.”
“We are committed to taking tough action against those who wreck the lives of law-abiding residents.”
Councillor Debra Coupar, Leeds City Council deputy leader, added: “This injunction results from months of teamwork between police and council anti-social behaviour teams.
“We are dedicated to keeping residents safe. Anyone harming the community will face the full force of the law.”
