Tragedy in Dorset: Sir Richard Sutton Stabbed to Death
Dorset Police were called to a home in Higher Langham near Gillingham at 7.30pm on Wednesday 7 April 2021 over concerns for the occupants’ welfare. What they found shook the quiet village.
Man Dies, Woman Critical After Stabbing
- Officers discovered an elderly man in his 80s and a woman in her 60s with serious stab wounds.
- The man, later identified as Sir Richard Sutton, was pronounced dead at the scene around 9.15pm.
- The woman was airlifted to Southmead Hospital in bristol/" title="Bristol" data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">Bristol and remains in critical condition.
- Post-mortem confirmed Sir Richard died from stab wounds to the chest.
Arrest and Charges: Suspect in Custody
Police arrested a 34-year-old man, Thomas Schreiber from Gillingham, on suspicion of murder in Hammersmith, London, the same evening. He was treated for non-life-threatening injuries before being taken into custody.
Schreiber now faces charges of murder, attempted murder, and dangerous driving. He is due in Poole Magistrates’ Court on Monday 12 April 2021.
Police Plea: No Online Speculation
“Our thoughts remain with the victims’ family and all affected by this terrible incident,” said Detective Inspector Simon Huxter of Dorset Police’s Major Crime Investigation Team.
“We have been authorised to charge Thomas Schreiber. However, it is vital the justice system runs its course without interference.”
