Man Jailed Over Deadly Crash That Killed Girlfriend Ariola Hoxhaj
A man has been locked up for dangerous driving after a devastating crash killed his girlfriend, Ariola Hoxhaj. Jordan Moore, 27, of Dickenson Close, N9, was sentenced at Wood Green Crown Court to 10 months in prison. He must serve another 10 months on licence once released.
Fatal Crash on Great Cambridge Road
The horrific collision happened just before midnight on 12 November 2018. Ariola, 26, a mother of one from Enfield, lost control of her white Mercedes A250 and crashed into a tree, suffering catastrophic injuries. Emergency services pronounced her dead at the scene.
Jordan Moore was driving a Mercedes CLA45 AMG – worth around £37,000 – and had been driving in convoy with Ariola along Great Cambridge Road, speeding well over the 40mph limit.
Moore Tried to Hide His Involvement
Witnesses saw Moore’s car pull away after the crash and park some distance away, seemingly to conceal it. He initially told police he didn’t know who was driving the other car. Firefighters had to use specialist tools to free Ariola’s embedded vehicle from the tree.
Moore was charged with causing death by dangerous driving but was found not guilty of that charge. However, he was convicted of the lesser charge of dangerous driving. He has also been banned from driving for two years and ten months and must retake an extended driving test. His Mercedes was seized under a Deprivation Order.
Police Warn Drivers: One Moment Can Destroy Lives
“If there is anything I would want someone to take away from this case it is the devastation that can be caused by dangerous driving. A child will grow up without a mother and a man is behind bars thanks to a moment of madness,” said Detective Sergeant Jose Qureshi of the Serious Collision Investigation Unit.
“I urge all drivers to be considerate and careful road users so that other families are spared the misery which Ariola’s have had to bear.”
