Son Jailed for Brutal Killing of Father in Bromley Home

Father Stabbed 33 Times in Horrific Attack

Sean Maurice, 31, from Widmore Road, Bromley, has been sentenced to 10 years for fatally stabbing his father, Paul Maurice, in September 2021. The violent assault happened inside Paul’s own home, leaving the community in shock.

On the night of Tuesday, September 14, 2021, at around 10.45pm, a neighbour answered their door after Paul repeatedly rang the doorbell. Bare-chested and covered in blood from multiple stab wounds, Paul claimed his son Sean had attacked him with a knife.

The neighbour quickly called an ambulance and alerted the police. Paramedics tried to save Paul at the scene before rushing him to hospital. Despite emergency surgery, Paul tragically died just before midnight.

Manhunt Ends With Dramatic Arrest

Police launched an immediate hunt for Sean Maurice. He was spotted hours later in Burnt Ash Lane at around 3.20pm and chased on foot by officers. In a tense standoff, Sean climbed onto a shed before being arrested.

When arrested, Sean appeared shocked to learn he was held on suspicion of murder. A post-mortem revealed Paul died from 33 stab wounds to his chest and abdomen.

Detectives Praise Team After Tough Investigation

Specialist crime detectives pieced together witness statements, CCTV footage, and forensic evidence to build the case against Sean.

Senior investigating officer Detective Chief Inspector Chris Wood said: “Our hearts go out to the family, who have been devastated by the events of that night. We know Sean’s relationship with his father had been difficult for many years, but the level of violence used here was shocking and cannot be justified. I am grateful to my team of officers for their hard work in what was a very complex investigation.”
