Northolt Man Paulo Kretteis Found Guilty of Two Rapes and Threats to Kill

Northolt Man Guilty of Two Rapes and Threats to Kill

Paulo Kretteis, 22, from Petts Hill, Northolt, was found guilty at Isleworth Crown Court on Thursday, 28 January. He was convicted of raping two women and making threats to kill. Kretteis had already pleaded guilty to two counts of assault occasioning actual bodily harm.

He is set to be sentenced on Friday, 26 March at the same court.

Brutal Attacks in Hammersmith and Ealing

Detective Sergeant James Bulpin, leading the Hammersmith investigation, described the chilling attack on a lone woman late at night. “Kretteis attacked a woman walking alone in the street and only fled when a passerby interrupted him. He might have thought he’d got away with it, but he’s now been rightly convicted,” said DS Bulpin.

Detective Constable Asha Adams praised the courage of the survivors. “Kretteis has shown no regard for the women he attacked. Both survivors showed tremendous bravery coming forward and helped us convict this dangerous offender,” she said.

The Crimes Uncovered

  • At 4.40am on 13 October 2019, a woman in her mid-20s was raped on a footbridge over a railway line near Bentworth Road, W12.
  • The victim had met Kretteis outside a bar before walking to a bus stop, where he physically assaulted and raped her.
  • A passerby interrupted the attack, allowing the woman to flag down a driver who called the police.
  • She was taken to hospital with facial injuries and supported by specialist officers.
  • CCTV footage captured the suspect, but he wasn’t identified at the time. However, his DNA was recovered from the victim’s coat.
  • On 15 December 2019, police responded to a disturbance at an Ealing residence, where a woman in her early 20s reported being assaulted and raped by Kretteis, who was known to her.
  • Kretteis was arrested at the scene and his DNA matched the earlier October attack, leading to a further arrest in February 2020.

Justice Nears as Sentencing Date Approaches

Kretteis now faces sentencing for his violent crimes, having been held accountable for terrifying two women and threatening their lives. Police credit the bravery of the survivors and the tireless work of investigators in bringing him to justice.
