Slough Man Cleared of Murder in 2020 Fatal Stabbing
A shocking knifing in Slough has seen Hamza Mahmood, 18, walk free today after a dramatic re-trial at Reading Crown Court. Mahmood was found not guilty of murder and manslaughter charges linked to the January 2020 death of Mohammed Aman Ashraq.
Re-trial Drama Ends with Acquittal
The trial, which started on 26 October and ended today (10 November), unfolded over a chilling incident on Benjamin Lane, Wexham, Slough. Eighteen-year-old Ashraq was stabbed in the back during a brawl on the evening of 4 January 2020.
While Mahmood was cleared, Mohammed Hussain, also 18 and from Benjamin Lane, was sentenced to at least 19 years after being convicted of Ashraq’s murder in July 2020.

Detective Offers Sympathy to Family
“This has been a long and painful process for the family of Mr Ashraq. My thoughts remain with them and I hope that the conclusion of today’s re-trial gives them some solace after this tragic incident,” said Detective Inspector Dejan Avramovic of Thames Valley Police’s Major Crime Unit. “I would also like to pay tribute to them for supporting our investigation throughout what has been an extremely difficult time.”
