Man Jailed for Smashing Glass Bottle Over Ex’s Head in Shocking Attack

Richard Pullen, 45, of Royal Wotton Bassett, has been locked up for 10 months after brutally assaulting his ex-partner with a glass bottle. The vicious attack left her bleeding and needing emergency treatment to remove glass shards from a nasty head wound.

Violent Attack Caught on FaceTime

The assault happened on April 17, 2020. Police were called to Pullen’s home after the victim’s daughter spotted blood during a FaceTime call and begged for help. When officers arrived, Pullen was aggressive, blocking their entry and standing between them and the injured woman.

Inside, the scene was grim – broken glass and blood stained the living room and bedroom. Paramedics had to clean and glue her head wound, caused by the bottle blow.

Restraining Order and Victim Surcharge Imposed

Swindon Crown Court handed down Pullen’s 10-month sentence on September 8. He also received a restraining order banning him from contacting the victim or her daughter, or coming within 100 yards of their homes. On top of that, he must pay a £156 victim surcharge.

Police Warn of Domestic Abuse Risks

“This was a nasty domestic abuse incident with serious injuries,” said PC Hayley Hardie from North Wiltshire Community Policing Team. “The victim, who had recently ended the volatile relationship, was left terrified. Thankfully, her daughter’s quick thinking on FaceTime helped us step in.”

“Even after charging Pullen, he kept intimidating the victim and used vicious, racist language towards her and her daughter. We take these offences very seriously and urge anyone suffering abuse to reach out for support.”
